- How come the tour is free?
We belong to “América a tus pies”, an ONG that promotes healthy lifestyles and harmony with the environment around big cities. Our services are free, however they are based on tips. These help move our project forward.
- Is tipping included and if not, how much should I budget?
The treks and hikes in nature with our organization do not have an established monetary value, however it is based on tips. These help us maintain our project and free tours for you and others who love this sport and nature, for this reason we would appreciate it if you could help support us.
- Can your guides speak another lenguage?
Yes, we speak English, Portuguese and Spanish, depending on the guide.
- I want to go on a trek. When and where can I do so?
Every day from Monday to Saturday, just book it.
- How big are the groups?
Depend of the the day and activity.
- Should I hire a porter?
For a trekking day isn’t necesary, but if you need you can. .
- What else should I bring along in a trek?
Your snacks, Sunglasses, sunhat, sunblock, camera.
- Any health precautions that I need to consider during my trek?
Hypertensive people are not allowed. Tell our guide if you have any medical prescription or a minimum physical shape.
- How do I book a trek with you?
You can send us an message clicking here or just show up to the meeting point.
- I want to go on a trek. When and where can I do so?
Every day from Monday to Saturday, just book it.
- What type of food is served during a trek?
You have to bring your own food, and water 1.5 liter of water and 1.5 Lt isotonic.
- How do you get safe drinking water on the trek?
You have to bring your own water and when our guides tell you when you can take water from a safe water source.
- Do you provide any equipment while trekking?
Yes, just a pole is provided when you book a trek or hike with us. But you have to book it.
- What about if I broke or damage the pole?
The cost of pole is 15.00 USD.
- What type of ground transportation is used on your tours?
Local public transportation, omnibus and subway, but it depends on the spot.
- What happens in case of emergency?
We are prepared to provide first aid required in case of a major event make calls toemergency services available to the city of Santiago to the Andes. Remember that free trekking not have accident insurance. Only public transportation has insurancein this case.
- How should I dress during a trek?
The climate in the Andes is always unpredictable so we always recommend wearingcomfortable clothing, shorts, sweatshirts as well dryfit nylon and warm clothing in case of change of climate or ask to our staff when you book it.
- What is the best time for trekking?
In the morning.
- Is it possible to alternate or change the day trips?
For groups of people we can do that and we have to set it up, but not for regular hikes or treks.
- Can we change the itinerary?
Only on private Trek. for private Trekkings or hiking please
